Banana & Chocolate Filled Fritters

Indbaft banan med chokolade

I AM IN LOVE! These Chocolate Banana fritters are soft, moist, sweet and firm. They have a thinner dough than normally, and I am a big fan of that because is do not like it too greasy.
Therefore Katrine made a dough for bananas fritters with pear cider, which is only a few millimeters thick after cooking. It is SO much better. Of course it is still deep fried, but with less oil than normally. Deep fried bananas with chocolate is the ultimate “Tonight-i’m-allowed-to-snack”-snack.

So after my snacktime, the recipe is now ready for the rest of you. It’s certainly worth a try! I haven’t tried with ice cream yet, but im sure they are completely mouthwatering with vanilla or chocolate ice cream.

The recipe gives 24-30 Banana/Chocolate Fritters

Ingredients:

  • 3 medium sized ripe bananas (not too soft)
  • 100 g / 3,52 oz chocolate 55%
  • 200 g / 7/8 cup of flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2,5 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 330 ml /1,4 cups / 11.1 fl.oz Pear Cider

Extra sugar to roll the Banana/chocolate fritters.
Lots of paper towels to drain banana fritters after deep fry.

Instructions:
1. Put your frying oil into a medium heavy-based saucepan on medium to high heat. Keep the lid nearby so you can put it on if the oil begins to burn.
2. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a bowl.
3. Chop the dark chocolate very finely and put it on a plate. Set it aside.
4. Peel the bananas and cut them into large pieces (8-10 pieces per. Banana). Set them aside.
5. Roll banana pieces in the chocolate so that the banana is covered all around.
6. Turn down the oil to medium heat and make sure your oil is hot enough. (Insert a wooden stick into the oil, if it sizzles, the oil is hot enough)
7. When the oil is ready, add the cider to the flour mixture and whisk well until dough is smooth.
8. With the help of a fork dip bananas into the batter and quickly lower them into the oil.
9. Let it cook for approx. 10 seconds and push them free from the bottom of the pan.
10. Fry banana frittes for approx. 1 – 1,5 min. or until golden brown.
11. Take the frittes out of the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a fat-absorbent surface. (For example kitchen towels)
12. While banana frittes are still hot roll it in sugar and place on a platter.
13. Continue with the rest of the dough.

Banana fritters is best just after deepfrying. They can be reheated but the texture will not be ideal.
Banana fritters are NOT suitable for freezing.
